Health answers in Tobava AI
Last updated: 18 October 2026
Tobava AI can answer health questions from Tobava Health's own index: millions of published medical articles, clinical guidelines from medical societies, and medical reference texts. Instead of answering from memory, it first finds the research that matches your question, then explains it in plain language and shows you the articles it used.
General information, not medical advice. Health answers help you understand a topic and prepare for a conversation with your doctor. They are not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Always check with your doctor or another qualified health professional before acting on them. In an emergency, call 000 (Australia), 112 or your local emergency number now.
Turning Health on
- On the home page: choose the Health tab next to AI Chat and Search, then ask your question.
- In a chat: tap the Health button in the message bar. While it is highlighted, every question in that chat is answered from the health index. Tap it again to go back to everyday chat.
- Automatically: even with Health off, Tobava AI recognises most health questions (symptoms, illnesses, medicines, test results, pregnancy, mental health) and uses the health index for them.
What a health answer looks like
Health answers carry a small Health label at the top. The answer marks the research it relies on with numbers such as [1] and [2], and a Published research list underneath gives the title, journal and year of each one, with a link to the article. Only sources the answer actually uses are listed.
Example
You: How much vitamin D should an adult take each day?
Tobava AI: A table of commonly recommended amounts for different situations, each backed by a numbered source, followed by what is worth asking your doctor, for example whether a blood test makes sense for you.
Every health answer ends with the same short reminder that it is general information, not medical advice.
Where the information comes from
| Source | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Published medical articles | Millions of research articles from medical and scientific journals, from large reviews to individual studies. |
| Clinical guidelines | Recommendations written by medical societies for doctors. These are preferred for questions about treatment. |
| Medical reference texts | Overviews of conditions, tests and medicines, used to explain the basics clearly. |
The index is built and searched on Tobava's own servers. If it has nothing useful for a question, Tobava AI says so and answers only from well-established medical knowledge.
What health answers can and cannot do
Good for
- Understanding a condition, a test or a medicine you have been told about
- Common side effects and what research says about them
- Preparing questions for your next appointment
- Healthy living, diet and exercise for a health condition
Not for
- Diagnosis. Tobava AI will not tell you what you have.
- Changing medicines. It will not tell you to start, stop or change a medicine or dose. Ask your doctor or pharmacist.
- Emergencies. If you describe warning signs such as chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, severe bleeding or thoughts of self-harm, the answer starts by telling you to call emergency services. Do that first.
AI can still be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and research findings do not always apply to a particular person. Use the linked articles to check anything important.
Languages and voice
You can ask in your own language, including Tamil, Hindi and other Indian languages. Tobava AI searches the research in English and replies in the language you used, or in the language set under Settings → Language. Health answers also work in voice conversations; spoken answers are short and end with a reminder to check with a doctor.
Privacy
- No ads with health answers. Sponsored cards are never shown beside a health answer, on any plan, so your health questions are not shared with ad partners for that answer.
- Searched on Tobava's servers. Your question is matched against the health index on Tobava's own servers.
- Careful choice of AI provider. Health questions are kept away from the free AI services we use that allow training on conversations. On paid plans, only providers that do not train on your chats are used, and personal details are removed before your message leaves Tobava.
Tobava AI does not ask for, store or read your medical records. Avoid typing details you would not want saved, such as your full name with a diagnosis. See Privacy and safety for what is saved with your chats.
Plans and limits
Health answers are available on every plan, including free use. Each one counts as a normal message. On AI Light, AI Plus and AI Plus Pro, the model you choose writes the answer from the same research, and you get more messages each day. See Plans and billing.
