Tobava Browser ships with enterprise-grade protections enabled out of the box — no extensions, no configuration required.
Tobava automatically upgrades every HTTP link to HTTPS before connecting. The URL bar shows a green lock for secure sites and a warning icon for insecure pages — so you always know your connection status.
Tobava scans every URL before you visit it. Known phishing domains, typosquat lookalikes, and malware sites are blocked with a clear warning page — keeping your passwords and personal data safe. You can always choose to proceed if you know the site is legitimate.
Invalid, expired, or self-signed SSL certificates trigger a full-page warning before the page loads. Unlike Chrome's "Not Secure" label that most people ignore, Tobava stops you before you accidentally send passwords to an insecure server.
Built on Electron's Chromium engine with contextIsolation, sandbox: true, and strict renderer isolation. Each page runs in its own sandboxed process — a compromised page can't access your files, passwords, or other tabs.
Third-party tracking cookies from Google, Meta, and 40+ ad networks are blocked before they load. The ad blocker counter shows exactly how many requests have been stopped on the current page — full transparency, not just a number in settings.
Canvas, WebGL, AudioContext, and Navigator fingerprinting are neutralised on every page load. Battery API, hardware concurrency, and plugin enumeration are masked — advertisers can't identify you even without cookies.
Performance
Chrome is notorious for eating gigabytes of RAM. Tobava has automatic tab sleeping and live memory monitoring so your machine stays fast.
Tabs you haven't visited in 5 minutes are automatically suspended — their page is unloaded from memory and a 💤 badge appears. Click the tab to instantly wake it. Sleeping tabs use near-zero CPU and RAM. Private tabs are never suspended.
The status bar shows live JS heap memory (used / total) in real time — updated every 10 seconds. Unlike Chrome's hidden Task Manager, Tobava surfaces memory usage right where you can see it, with no extra tools needed.
Autoplay videos and audio are blocked by default — stopping media from pre-loading and consuming bandwidth before you want it. Pages load faster, and you aren't ambushed by sound.
Blocking 40+ ad and tracker networks means pages load with fewer requests, less JavaScript to execute, and less data to download. Real-world browsing is measurably faster — especially on ad-heavy news sites.
Closed tabs are remembered and can be restored with Ctrl+Shift+T. Your full session — tabs, history, bookmarks — is persisted to disk so nothing is lost if the browser crashes or you close it by accident.

Developer Tools
Built on the same Chromium engine as Chrome, Tobava ships with the complete, unmodified Chrome DevTools — everything you already know, working exactly as expected.
Press F12 or open from the ☰ menu → Developer Tools. Elements, Console, Network, Sources, Performance, Application, and Memory panels — all built in, full Chrome DevTools version.
Right-click any element → Inspect to open DevTools pinned directly to that element's node in the Elements panel. Exactly like Chrome — no learning curve if you already know the tools.
See every HTTP request, response header, payload, and timing. Debug APIs, check for slow resources, inspect cookies and auth tokens — the full Chrome Network tab is there.
Set breakpoints, step through code, inspect variables, and run JavaScript in the context of any page. The full V8-powered debugger — same as Chrome DevTools, with source maps support.
